Right-wing group Focus on the Family worries that atheists (in the form of the group Freedom From Religion) are threatening the National Day of Prayer by filing a lawsuit.
But the problem for some isn’t prayer. The problem is Focus on the Family. They’ve taken a perfectly lovely (for some) idea and turned it into an outreach for their narrow theology. Mrs. James (Shirley) Dobson, after all, heads the prayer day task force.
And check out this blog from the NDP task force’s senior director. I’m searching the post for inclusivity (as I believe heaven will be and the National Day of Prayer should be) , but I’m not finding it. Tell me if you do, won’t you?
