Why you should meditate

85308961Here, but understand I’m a big ol’ hypocrite for posting this because I have never successfully quieted my mind enough to do this very thing.

I see the point. I really, really do. I listen to friends talk about the life-long benefits of meditating, and they seem so centered. Or something.

But. But. But.

  1. I’ve tried these “quieting the mind” exercises lots of times. I always end up with some sort of dialog going on silently in my head and then I tell myself to quiet down and focus on some speck on the floor. Moments later, I’m making my grocery list in my head or thinking about the kids…blah, blah, blah. It’s embarrassing when I’ve done this in a group and have had to admit how awful I am at this.

  2. We might get kicked out of the class for disturbing the group! :)
