Obama’s inner circle of religious advisers

Dan Gilgoff at U.S. News & World Report, has made a list of 10 religious leaders on whom Pres. Obama relies.

I have two suggestions: One, I imagine there could be more than one woman on the list, and two, where is the Rev. Jeremiah Wright? Yes, Obama left his church, but I’d say the reverend continues to influence Obama. But then, this is maybe a list of people on whom the president relies now.

Like I said, just suggestions.

  1. Wow. Ten preachers. (No Muslims?)
That is some kind of Prosperity Gospel. And he gets to kiss Ratzinger’s…ring…too.
I guess when you order funerals be carpetbombed and send drone attacks after weddings it’s best to have your bases covered.

I was surprised when he abandoned Wright. I don’t remember Wright abandoning him when he was one of the few in government who spoke against the war in Iraq. (“Wrong war, wrong place, wrong time.”)

    • I have a soft spot in my heart for the Rev. Wright. I think those YouTube videos were damning to the extreme, and I think they were taken entirely out of context. I’m going to have to save a spot in heaven for Wright — unless he gets there first.

      • Me too. I think what he said was blown way out of proportion. I didn’t like the way his ministry marginalized him. Now every time you see him he’s characterized as a fanatic, or worse. It’s driven him to be bold and careless with his words.
