The singer Chris Brown was allegedly involved in two previous domestic violence incidents, prior to his February assault on the singer Rihanna, which got him into trouble.
For his February attack, Brown was sentenced to five years’ probation and 180 hours of physical labor.
Like so many domestic violence incidents, Brown’s previous violent episodes — which occurred in other countries — were not reported to the authorities.

Is he required to attend anger management/domestic violence counseling? I really hope so because 180 hours of physical labor won’t be enough to change him, I don’t think.
I did not read that, but you’d hope so, right?
This really stinks. Really really stinks.
Big time.
Letting a violent offender off without jail time, letting him decide where he will serve his probation and negotiate the manner of his prescribed public service sends the wrong message to his fans about violence.
If he had done those things to you or me, he’d be doing hard time. But because his victim was a domestic partner, somehow the punishment, (or is it the crime), is mitigated.
Michael Vick got time for dogfighting. His employers demand he take a proactive, public approach to his rehabilitation. He’s going to have to fight to save his career.
The disparity between the two cases is, to me anyway, appalling.
Good point. Abuse dogs and get jail time. Abuse your domestic partner, and you can go pick up trash.
