But when Team USA (riding Night Train) won the gold for 4-man bobsled yesterday in the Winter Olympics, I smiled.
Steve Holcomb, the driver, does not look like my vision of an Olympic athlete. Then again, neither do I. Holcomb, by comparison to his teammates, looks a tinge paunchy (that’s him on the right, above). In fact, rather than an Olympic god, he looks like someone you’d call to help move your couch, and yet there he stood on the top-most rung of the medal podium. Yeah, I know this doesn’t mean there’s hope for the likes of me, but it makes me smile.

Thanks for letting me know. I’ve had my nose in the books and laptop. THIS has become my news source and my stress reliever (no pressure).
You’ve got the arm. Curling, 2014. How about it?
I do have the arm. I’m just not sure I have the patience to learn a whole new sport. If you’re in, though…
If this is your sole news source, I shall pray for you.
Yes, pray for me. It’s my window to the world!
See you on the ice next winter? I’ve got a broom so we’re half way there.
Nertz. That means I’ve got to go out and get that tea-kettle-looking thing.
Loved this bobsledding thing – so very proud!
Did you watch the closing ceremonies? That clown trying to get the torch built was hilarious.
I still can’t believe how much fun I had watching curling. Didn’t matter which two teams just fasination with the tatics and charm of granite stone sensuously moving down the ice. Humm–wonder if this interest is age related?
I got into the bobsledding more than I ever have. And yesterday’s hockey game was fabulous, even though I could follow the puck about 15 percent of the time. I’m pretty sure that, at least, is age-related.
