What you do for a living may shed light on how you’ll die.
Uh-oh. And with that happy thought, believe I’ll head out and change careers.

Just a continuation of an earlier conversation, but Bro. Chris sent this. Lovely, yes?

And coming to save a family from foreclosure! It’s SUPERMAN! (Or, as Sis. Cynical’s neighbor would say, “Thuperman!”)
And thanks, Bro. Jay, for the link. Sadly, Bro. Jay’s aunt — or so he’s told — got bored with her vintage Superman comic book collection, and gave it to her dentist, who then sold the collection and retired to an island he named after himself.
I made that last part up, but he very well could have.

By no less a Biblical scholar than Sis. Betty Bowers, America’s Best Christian. And thank you, Sis. Sensible, for the link.

Wasted my time to see the lions, the pumas, the bears!

The Hill has released its annual “50 Most Beautiful People 2010,” and guess who wins?
Even discounting the one young woman in the top 10 who is “leaning” toward being a Democrat, seven of the top 10 are from the Party of the Big, Beautiful Tent, and scrolling through the others, the Democrats still win by a wide margin.
And why any one would take the time to compile such a list — or why I would take the time to scroll through such a list — is beyond me. Forgive me. I’m going now to re-read my Constitution, anything to get my serious mojo back.

Birdie. For every one homophobe, we need three Birdies.
And thanks, Sis. CTLW, for the link.

It would appear that U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton thinks “reasonable” — as in “reasonable attempt to determine the immigration status of a person stopped, detained or arrested” — is too vague, as the law’s critics have been saying all along.

…go listen to Terry Gross’s story today with Richard Cizik, the evangelical leader who was ousted from his position with the National Association of Evangelicals in 2008 for opinions he expressed in support of civil unions on Gross’s Fresh Air.
He came back to talk further with her on today’s program. Listen particularly to his discussions about evangelicals and change. Sis. Cynical alerted me to the program, and having listened to the whole thing, I have only this to say:
Bro. Richard for Prez. He Gets It.
Here’s his new organization, the New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good.

MAPLight.org has a new website that allows you to track political contributions from special interest groups. Information is provided by the Center for Responsive Politics.
Take, for example, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The tracking website lists each senator, how they voted, and the contributions they’ve received from commercial banks and any other entity with an interest in financial reform.
Go to the bottom to find who filled whose coffers. For example, 291 contributions from the commercial banking industry gave contributions that totaled $366,875 to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) during the 2002-2010 election cycles.
For that same time period, our own senator, Chris Dodd (a Democrat, and chairman of the banking, housing, and urban affairs committee), received $866,644 from 828 financial entities.
Do make the tracking website one of your favorites, won’t you?
