Church sign: “Love Jesus? To meet him now, text while driving!”
And the response: http://www1.whdh.com/news/articles/local/12001736355532/
I’m a little surprised this would be controversial. These folks should drive through my hometown and read some of THOSE church signs.
Guilty as charged. I’ve yet to find a hands-free device I like. Trying to make turning off the phone part of the driving habit (like buckling up). So hard not to answer when it rings. Damn that Pavlovian response!
Same here, but just this a.m. I had a breakthrough and turned the damn thing off. Now I don’t hear it, it’s all good.

There are probably others. I read about one that was created by a guy who was inspired to do something when his little kid was almost run over right next to him in a crosswalk. That one even goes into no-text mode when the phone detects motion over a certain speed, so it’s automatic.
As someone who spends 5-7 hours on a bicycle each week, few things scare me as much texting.
I bet.
It’s ironic that just as many municipalities are investing in massive (and expensive) infrastructure changes to make biking safer, cell phone use is undermining their efforts to a great degree.
Our new car had Onstar with the built in cell phone absolutely hands free. Neither of us use phones much since we retired but it is so great if I really need to contact someone to just push a steering wheel button and say “Call (nickname) and never take my eyes off the road.
Love this song. Thanks for the link.
I wouldn’t dream of trying to text and drive. I can’t even text while sitting in a stationary chair. And I’ve never been able to talk and drive. I used to be able to listen while driving, but now I can’t even do that reliably.
So basically, you’re saying that when you drive, you drive.
