Remember Ol’ Rush’s whole “slut” thing?

UPS just became the latest company to pull advertising from the blowhard’s radio show.

That brings the total to roughly 100. And if you need a refresher, here’s more on where Ol’ Rush put his foot in his mouth, and then swallowed, hard.

Where’s the controversy in saving lives?

Kansas board revokes license of a doctor/colleague of Dr. George Tiller

Read the sad, sad case of Dr. Ann Kristin Neuhaus, a colleague of Dr. George Tiller, the latter of whom was murdered in 2009.

After investigating some of the abortions performed at Tiller’s clinic — where Neuhaus provided second opinions required by state law, the state board of healing arts decided that, for instance, Dr. Neuhaus shouldn’t have recommended performing an abortion on a 10-year old who was raped by her uncle.

No more Ms. Nice Girl…

…as says Sharon, who sent this photo.

If we want to reduce the number of abortions…

…might we consider making birth control more accessible?

Just a thought, as it appears the two issues are connected.

Because no one knows more about women’s issues than middle-aged white men with comb-overs…

Here’s more on the artist, Lisa Koch.

Hmm…harassing the harassers…

A man named Tony Massey is accused of harassing people who delivery goods (such as caterers) to Denver’s Planned Parenthood office. (Evidently, he is the author of this video.)

So Todd, at Voice of Choice, has suggested people who don’t like harassers do some harassing back. He suggests:

Please remember that Voice of Choice tries to lower violence and hate. We do not argue, talk about religion or politics, and we are always polite.

If anyone needs information about how to get a free virtual phone number that you can use to make these calls please let me know. The free virtual phone numbers also come with free long distance and free voice mail with voice mail messages that can be emailed. They are handy if you need to send voice mail messages to someone else.

On second thought, I WILL write about vaginas:

No means no, but recently, when Michigan state Rep. Lisa Brown tried to speak out against a massive anti-abortion bill in her state, and a fellow legislator said her statement and the word “vagina” were offensive, and not something he’d discuss in “mixed company” (that means both the vagina-blessed, and the vagina-less, I guess).

Rep. Brown was later barred from speaking about a different bill.

So — thanks to suggestions from Meh and DickG. — we should probably come up with a legislator-friendly word for a woman’s “down-yonders” (though I could also go with “nuu-nuu”). Meh suggests “Sinful Birth Digeridoo.” You?

Reproductive rights, around the country:

Guttmacher Institute has a chart that’s current as of June 1, right here: spib_OAL

Do you know what yesterday was?

Yeah, the anniversary got right by me, too, but on June 7, 1965, the Supreme Court ruled that citizens are guaranteed a certain amount of privacy, and that includes the right to make decisions regarding the use of contraceptives.

You can read more about the case, Griswold v. Connecticut, here.

Sadly, we have not come a long way, baby.
