The Pennsylvania General Assembly recently bought 220 Bibles — $13,700 in taxpayers’ money — for legislators. This, as you might imagine, raised a few eyebrows, but my favorite quote came from the founder of RockTheCapital.org: “By the time you arrive at this station in life, you shouldn’t need the taxpayers to pay for your moral boarding pass.”
Moral boarding pass. I like that. Still, in the interest of embracing our multi-faith culture, it is encouraging that one of the legislators — who isn’t a Muslim — ordered a Qur’an instead, because he said he’d always wanted to read one.
Now how many of them actually read their Bibles…
Oh, wait. Sorry. My judgmental slip was showing there for a minute. Excuse me.
