I got to hear this poem spoken to me — through my cell phone — by Sis. Kick, herself. I was walking to lunch, she called, and as she spoke the poem, I had to sit down to listen, it’s that powerful.
But don’t let me interrupt you listening for yourself…
That was a powerful poem. And an angry poem, as well as a sad poem. People will always break your heart if you let them. You can’t be angry when it happens. Like the wizard said, “Hearts are meant to be broken.” As long as you love, you will be hurt. There will always be those who hate. If they hurt you, you must learn to forgive.
“Not my rule, Daniel-san, nature’s rules.”
“A lot of people enjoy being dead. But they are not dead, really. They’re just backing away from life. *Reach* out. Take a *chance*. Get *hurt* even. But play as well as you can. Go team, go! Give me an L. Give me an I. Give me a V. Give me an E. L-I-V-E. LIVE! Otherwise, you got nothing to talk about in the locker room. “
