Republican lawmakers are targeting NPR, Planned Parenthood, and AmeriCorps. NPR and Planned Parenthood have long been popular targets for the Party of Lincoln (can’t have an informed populace, and you dare not let women take their health into their own hands) but AmeriCorps?
And on Friday, they’ll kill Santa. You heard it here first.

They are against national & community service now? Is this how they “create jobs”? Unbelievable!
Remember your comment about living with a high daily level of outrage (or similar)? Yeah. It’s exhausting.
A while back, on one of your blogs, a non-sympathetic commenter said something about “those loudmouths at NPR,” assuming, I gather, that NPR is the antithesis of Fox News. But no. An “On The Media” analysis of various surveys found that as many people think NPR skews right as left, and many think it’s pretty much non-partisan, and for heaven’s sake, there are no network loudmouths!
That non-sympathetic commenter should buy a vowel, and sit and listen for a while, and then make his/her pronouncements.
The churches will step in to fill the gaps… Yeah, that’s it!
If only…
The Republican idea of “national service” is to avoid it. Hide in the Air National Guard or go to France for two years to do church work. Uh-huh.
