article-1379780-0BBD368500000578-611_634x458They scattered. The dropped out of school. The storm blew a hole in their lives that has yet to be filled.

Read this report, from The Hechinger Report. It’s quite and includes stories of lives interrupted, never to be begun again. New Orleans, according to Tulane University’s Cowen Institute, has

the third highest percentage of young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 who are neither employed nor enrolled in school. The report also found that Louisiana has the country’s highest percentage of these opportunity youth of any state in the nation.

That didn’t just happen.
