Responding to critics who decried Pope Francis’ recent meeting with law-breaker Kim Davis, which netted her two rosaries and a “Stay strong,” the Vatican said this:
The brief meeting between Mrs. Kim Davis and Pope Francis at the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, DC has continued to provoke comments and discussion. In order to contribute to an objective understanding of what transpired I am able to clarify the following points: Pope Francis met with several dozen persons who had been invited by the Nunciature to greet him as he prepared to leave Washington for New York City. Such brief greetings occur on all papal visits and are due to the Pope’s characteristic kindness and availability. The only real audience granted by the Pope at the Nunciature was with one of his former students and his family. The Pope did not enter into the details of the situation of Mrs. Davis and his meeting with her should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects.
I’m not sure this will remove the sour taste from those critics’ mouths, but there you have it.
Bullshit.
No surprise…considering the source.
It’s one of the few times I believe the Pope’s office didn’t think something through. Now they just sound like media manipulators. I like media manipulators who keep the strings hidden. I say that with love.
They knew…they all knew…Bergoglio, Davis and her Liberty Counsel handlers included…exactly what they were doing. Same stage. Same script. Same play. Given the precision with which it was all pulled off, I can’t consider this as being anything close to mishandled.
They sound like media manipulators because they are media manipulators.
There are a lot of mixed messages in his actions and words.
I think I already knew the pope was against gay marriage and abortion; and that he was for the environment and a more sustainable and equitable distribution of resources; and some other stuff. I hope he has some influence on public opinion in the areas in which I agree with him, and I hope he gets a backlash on everything else.
