Putting Rep. Gohmert (R-Texas) on your prayer list

Father of three daughters Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, opposes two bills that would encourage women to go into science because, he says…

“Washington is always a step behind…we want to take time from our $19 trillion in debt to demand that the National Science Foundation discriminate based on gender.”

Yow. Read those bills again, Rep. Gohmert. And then go talk to your colleague Rep. Elizabeth Esty, a Connecticut Democrat who’s pushing the bill. And then read this. And this. And know that we are praying for you.

And thanks, Jac, for the link.

  1. How can any woman with a brain vote Republican? How can any man who has and cares about a mother, wife, daughter, grand daughter, aunt, niece, daughter-in-law, female colleague or mistress
vote Republican? [I’m sure my list of relationships is incomplete].

    1. I actually have relatives (female ones) who want to vote not only for a Republican, but for Trump. And when I ask why, I am trying to learn to listen actively, as opposed to just waiting for them to stop talking so I can start. It’s hard.

      1. Me, too. I listen but they never get to issues. Their reasoning is focused on not liking Hillary.

        1. Isn’t that weird? I was thinking on the way in if there was a way to connect a dislike of Hillary to a general dislike (mistrust, you name it) of women. I don’t mean that everyone who’s not voting for Clinton is anti-woman (just as everyone who didn’t vote for Pres. Obama isn’t racist…if you can follow that sentence) but is there a way to separate a lack of interest in a politician’s policies from that politician’s race/gender? I’d pay for that kind of a test.

      2. According to CNN, as of mid-March, 44% of Republican women support Trump’s candidacy. Just shy of the 50% of Republican men.

        1. I wonder how many Republican women don’t support either Trump or Cruz. They are both extreme candidates. Will moderate conservatives actually vote for one of those two bozos, do you think? There are “Republicans” who are not religious and are moderate to liberal on some social issues. It seems these people have no candidate so what will they do?

    2. Gohmert’s on his…what?…fifth term?
      Somebody’s buying that bullshit…in bulk.

  2. He says his daughters are beautiful “inside and out”. He knows this because he recently had them bled and their entrails purged to balance their humors.
