So this porn site took matters in hand…

xhamster

…as it were.

So a porn sight (see above) decided to block the entire state of North Carolina after that state passed one of those obnoxiously illegal laws that — well, just read this. It’s too depressing to synopsize.

From the porn site:

We are appalled by the recent events that have transpired in North Carolina. We have spent the last 50 years fighting for equality for everyone and these laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate. As of today, access to XHamster.com is blacked out in the state of North Carolina until further notice. Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one. We will not standby and pump revenue into a system that promotes this type of garbage. We respect all sexualities and embrace them.

After signing the nasty bill into law in March, N.C. Gov. Patrick McCrory just signed an executive order saying — well, I’m not sure what he’s saying. From the guvner’s own lips:

“After listening to people’s feedback for the past several weeks on this issue, I have come to the conclusion that there is a great deal of misinformation, misinterpretation, confusion, a lot of passion and frankly, selective outrage and hypocrisy, especially against the great state of North Carolina,” McCrory said in a video statement. “Based upon this feedback, I am taking action to affirm and improve the state’s commitment to privacy and equality.”

From all indications, the law still stands. Well, at least we know how the porn site stands. The governor? Not so much.

  1. But…according to HuffPo, XHamster supports the Big Hands candidate.

However, [XHamster] said the company doesn’t support all of Trump’s policies.
“We will continue to support equality regardless of who gets elected.”

Especially when appearing to do so will put money in our pockets. Because we will do anything…promote anything…that might put more money in our pockets. Debase. Defame. Debauch. Traffic in and promote every manner of human sexual behavior imaginable. If there’s a KaChing$!$ in it, we are all for it.

    That’s XHamster’s stake in “equality.”

Implying pornographers are on the side of righteousness on this issue…the same side as The Boss… is…well…offensive.

    • Ah, bummer. I just like that a website (porn or no) can take a stand when a governor cannot. This blog post should not be seen as an endorsement of the website, the website’s hiring/firing policies, the website’s politics, or the website’s content. I think I will add that.

      • XHamster’s position is just more exploitation spewing from a business built upon exploitation. (Apparently, the legalized bigotry and discrimination against the LGBT community enacted or being considered in any of a half dozen other States has yet to pique XHamster’s sense of equality. But when it comes to bathrooms in North Carolina? Should we be surprised?)

Ironically, if the evidence discussed in this WaPo feature is anywhere close to accurate, XHamster’s shutdown in North Carolina is probably just what the doctor ordered.
