And thanks, Jac, for the links.
I like the idea of testing the solar road panels.
But truck platooning? On mixed traffic roadways?
Makes me cringe.
I know shockingly little about this. Why does it make you cringe?
The thought of sharing the road with 4 or 6 tractor trailer rigs carrying GodKnowsWhat connected by a wireless sounds a lot more risky than independent units piloted by independent units.
Especially from the perspective of those travelers in the photo.
I need to read more about this, I think. Thanks.
The truck platooning is separate from solar roadways. Solar roadways, if they work as anticipated, are the coolest! I may need to take a road-trip to Missouri in 2017 to check them out! From age 10, when for Christmas I got an electronics set containing a small solar cell, until now, I have been fascinated by solar power. If I have a next house, it will be solar powered if at possible. ALL COOL! (Ok, I admit, my inner geek is now out.)
I was in a rush as I wrote my previous comment, multi-tasking too much. I wanted to share this, related to an article I read a few days ago: http://www.solar-fuels.org/
And, yeah, the truck platooning makes me nervous, too. Though, with eventual self driving cars (also makes me nervous), maybe it’ll all be so well controlled, we’ll be inches away from one another on the highway without a worry.
I’m more excited by the potential of hydrogen than anything else.
Also exciting! I am hopeful we will be able to move away from non-renewable energy sources in the next decade.
