So an archbishop says remarried Catholics should live like siblings

jchaput06z-aPhiladelphia’s Archbishop Charles Chaput says remarried Catholics can receive Communion only if they abstain from sex and live like brothers and sisters.

Chaput issued guidelines earlier this month that said

“Undertaking to live as brother and sister is necessary for the divorced and civilly remarried to receive reconciliation in the Sacrament of Penance, which could then open the way to the Eucharist.”

I thought this would create a stir in my house, as my husband is a remarried Catholic. but when informed of this new rule, he said simply, “OK, sis.”

And thanks, Jac, for the link.

  1. …Chaput can do what he wants in his diocese, but a neighboring bishop may take a much more open position.”

What Francis did in Amoris, [Rev. Thomas] Reese said, “was articulate certain principles and allow local churches to interpret and implement them in the way they see best.”

The market rules. Ration The Joy of Love according to whatever standards will keep the pews filled and the collection plate full.

Nobody does hypocrisy like the RCC.
