Just kidding. I mean who am I to work on the Pope. but some remarks he made yesterday were disappointing, and not just to the LGBTQ crowd.
In a private meeting with bishops from Poland, Pope Francis said that
schoolchildren are being taught they can choose their gender as part of what he called an “ideological colonization.”
In what world does someone “choose their gender?”
This is uniquely disappointment because this particular pope has been so, well, progressive. But oh-well.
Bergoglio just called capitalism “terrorism against all of humanity.” Apparently.
So on his first trip to a Poland, a former Soviet state, a center of RCC conservatism , and home to both the sainted Karol Józef Wojtyła and Solidarity leader Lech Wałęsa, the PR push there had to be conservative. Especially to clerics.
Bergoglio’s “progressivism” is a sham. He’s a PR front. His job is to abate migration away from the RCC. That requires a balancing act.
I think you may be right, which is sad. I wanted to have hope for evolution in the RCC.
I don’t think the RCC believes in evolution as a matter of policy.
Bummer!
It looks like a mixed message, though not entirely surprising. Until actions back up progressive words, it’s just useless talk in the RCC.
