  1. While I agree that racial discrimination in hiring is not, in general, good for business, I’m not convinced the evidence presented answers the question: “Are Firms That Discriminate More Likely to Go Out of Business?”

    Pager herself admits “there may be other characteristics related to both discrimination and business survival” that she ignores, and that her findings only “suggest that firms that engaged in discrimination in 2004 were less likely to be in business six years later.”

    This reads more like an exercise in circular reasoning than a scientific study.
