A vote for Hillary is a vote against the blood-gargling NRA

tumblr_nvtgnycjta1udefl6o1_1280Need proof? Even though NO, Hillary is not coming for your guns (just as Obama did not come for your guns), the blood-gargling National Rifle Association has pumped $6.5 million into anti-Clinton ads.

You can read more about that nasty’s organization’s efforts in Colorado here.

Here’s the candidate’s proposed policies on gun legislation.

  1. While a vote for Hillary Clinton is definitely a vote against the NRA, Trump’s biggest supporter, I think we need to temper Clinton’s campaign rhetoric with the same reality check used on Republican claims about her agenda on gun control.

As President, Hillary Clinton will not:
Expand background checks. She cannot do that without Congress. She cannot “close the Charleston Loophole” without Congress. That requires legislation. Any attempt to bypass that function will never survive judicial scrutiny…as it should be.
Take on the gun lobby by removing the industry’s sweeping legal protection for illegal and irresponsible actions. She cannot do that without Congress, including significant support from Democrats who support the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. Any hope to put a dent in the broad immunities provided for in that Act lies in court action. The latest attempt at that by Connecticut’s Sandy Hook survivors and Bloomie’s Everytown irregulars failed.
Keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, other violent criminals, and the severely mentally ill because, by and large, that’s already been done. The problems plaguing those controls, (enforceability, proliferation, uniformity), will not go away when Clinton moves into the Oval Office. Not without Congress. Not without the courts. And when it comes to keeping “military-style weapons” off our streets, we should remember it was Democrats in Congress that passed an “assault weapons” ban with a time limit, and provisions that allowed manufacturers to continue to produce “military style” weapons with just a few minor cosmetic changes. Their record on gun control sucks.

Clinton’s history on gun control advocacy is as impressive as it is impotent. And advocating for laws that impinge upon constitutionally guaranteed liberties and protections is not gun control. It’s people control. And it’s an insult to anyone, survivors included, who actually wants effective national legislation that speaks to the public health crisis created by semiautomatic firearms with removable magazines. Clinton’s…and The Democratic Party’s…campfire kumbaya approach to gun control would be laughable if it wasn’t so utterly offensive.

But…you know…vote for Clinton! Because we really don’t gave much of a choice.
