The effect of having an abortion

658cfcccaa459a1ba821284299161646The JAMANetwork just published a study that looks at the mental health of women five years after either having or being denied an abortion. The study found that…

…compared with having an abortion, being denied an abortion may be associated with greater risk of initially experiencing adverse psychological outcomes. Psychological well-being improved over time so that both groups of women eventually converged. These findings do not support policies that restrict women’s access to abortion on the basis that abortion harms women’s mental health.

  1. I Love SCIENCE!

By understanding that each woman’s experience is unique and that women will vary in their responses to having an abortion or being denied an abortion, we can better serve women’s individual needs.

And it only took the AMA 5 years to figure that out.
But it only took them one day to endorse for HHS Secretary a politician…and a doctor…who…
Voted YES on banning federal health coverage that includes abortion–
Supports barring funding for abortion under federal Obamacare plans–
Supports a prohibition of federal funding for abortion–
Supports the prohibition on federal funding to groups like Planned Parenthood–
Supports denying family planning assistance that includes abortion–
And wants to grant the “pre-born” equal protection under 14th Amendment.

    Just sayin’…
