Humanists do not scare me

Nor do agnostics, atheists, Baptists, Buddhists, Jews or Muslims, either. And they shouldn’t scare you, either. I wrote this for Mother Courant. If we in the Christian faith are threatened by other expressions of faith, or by people who t don’t believe in God, then our faith is pretty stinkin’ small. Onward. To a fuller tomorrow.

You’re right, Todd Starnes. You are no theologian.

Fox News & Commentary talking head Todd Starnes has rewritten the Bible, and Jesus’ message. Here’s a petition to remove Mr. Starnes from his post. And here’s a bit more about the faith of the American sniper on which the much-discussed movie is based, Chris Kyle. Fascinating stuff, yes? Would Jesus bless a sniper?

If Mitt runs again, it will be as a Mormon

That’s what we call a misleading headline but the New York Times reported today that should  Mitt Romney, the unsuccessful Republican presidential nominee in 2012, run again in ’16, he won’t pussy-foot around his Mormon faith. I am always moved by the Lord’s words in Matthew: “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I …

Christians, doing the right thing.

I post entirely too many things about Christians showing their ugly side, so here’s something from Jac about believers doing something, well, nice. It’s not that newsworthy that Christians do nice things, but I’d hate for a reader of this blog to think I think that all Christians subscribe to the faith of this guy.

Occupy Hartford and faith

In October, a group of clergy from the Hartford area went to the Occupy Hartford site to talk about their commonality. At 12:30 p.m. Sunday, a group from Occupy Hartford will to to the Unitarian Meetinghouse in Hartford for a forum sponsored by the Greater Hartford Interfaith Coalition for Equity and Justice. And thanks, Ed, for …
