Give me your tired…JK

Vox reports four leaked drafts that say According to Vox: In all, the combined documents would represent one of the harshest crackdowns on immigrants — both those here and those who want to come here — in memory. This is catastrophic for refugee efforts. Now’s a good time to contact your legislators. You can do so here.

New rules for migration

As the Syrian refugee crisis (and the crisis surrounded refugees from so many other countries) deepens, Md. Shahidul Haque, Bangladesh’s foreign secretary, has some suggestions: Stop looking at migration as a temporary, manageable thing. Think about global governance. Stop thinking of migrants as “workers,” and start thinking of them as people. Make bold migration policies.

An interfaith gathering of healing and solidarity

The Islamic Association of Greater Hartford (known more colloquially as the Berlin Mosque) at 2:30 p.m. this Friday. Faith leaders will join to oppose the hate and stereotyping of Muslims, immigrants, Hispanics, African Americans, and the LGBTQ community of the recent bruising election. The U.S. plans to increase the number of refugees we accept to 110,000, starting on Oct. 1. That’s a 30 percent increase over the 85,000 goal  this year. So who will we be letting in? For starters, coming in as a refugee would be the stupidest way, for a terrorist. So don’t buy that hype. Here …

Southern Baptists? We’ll keep praying fer ye.

The Southern Baptist Convention just approved a resolution that encourages members to be more welcoming to refugees. This after #OrangeHitler has doubled down on his illegal and immoral suggestion to ban Muslims from the U.S. And here are just a few things that could spring from that. The Baptists also came out against the Confederate battle flag. Good …
