The article says that Strauss “outfit the gold miners” — that History of Clothing book said he was there to make tents out of a sturdy fabric originating in Nimes, France (de Nimes, of Nimes), but the miners said “Nah, we need sturdy PANTS and JACKETS, Levi.” Or so the tale is told.
Are Levi’s made in the USA these days?
If they are, that would surprise me.

I wondered about the family relations…you could just go ahead and lie, you know.
I used to lie about the chocolates.
I would insist on sampling any I found to make sure they met “family standards.”
