“Because it’s 2015,” the new Canadian prime minister answered, when asked.
Here’s Obama’s cabinet. I guess here, it’s more like 1935.
There’s a greater degree of social solidarity in Canada. It’s all that great healthcare. And the parliamentary system doesn’t hurt either.
I love his answer.
His cabinet also includes, for the first time, two Indigenous members: Jody Wilson-Raybould, Kwakwaka’wakw, as Minister of Justice and Attorney General, and Hunter Tootoo, Inuit, as Minister of Fisheries and the Canadian Coast Guard.
It’s also good to see Carolyn Bennett as Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs, (formerly Aboriginal Affairs). Trudeau told her to consider herself the “Minister of Reconciliation.” Trudeau’s Liberals have promised to repair the relationship between the federal government and Indigenous peoples that suffered some serious setbacks during the Conservatives tenure. Bennett is widely considered to be the best person for the job…a monumental task.
Me, too. It was so matter of fact. And true!
